BioDesign Innovation is a cutting-edge postgraduate program that empowers students to create real-world solutions in the MedTech field. Through interdisciplinary teamwork, students from the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Biomedical Engineering (MBE) collaborate to identify unmet medical needs, develop medical device prototypes and craft business plans. This project-based learning model provides students with hands-on experience, integrating clinical immersion in hospitals and access to healthcare professionals.

The program’s strength lies in the collaboration between MBA and MBE students, combining business acumen with technological expertise. Students engage in concept ideation, design and business model development, learning both engineering and commercial skills. With support from clinicians and mentors, they gain critical insights into regulatory requirements, intellectual property and market needs.

Graduates are well-positioned for entrepreneurial and professional careers, having developed shovel-ready prototypes and business plans that address real medical challenges, contributing to Australia’s growing MedTech start-up ecosystem.
